The great International Tourism Exhibition MITT opens today in Moscow. The Synodical Committee Pilgrimages of the Church of Greece participates in the Exhibition. MITT is the most important worldwide, while the year 2012 had 82,933 visitors, of which 74% were tourism professionals. This year at the Greek National Tourism Organisation pavillion, among 57 exhibitors and in a specific site, hosted the Holy Dioceses of the Church of Greece, which by the Synodical Committee, in response to the request of the Holy Synod, have Russian-speaking material on monasteries and shrines.
The delegation briefed the General Consul on recent activities of the Greek Church in matters of religious tourism, giving a special attention to the recent Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Tourism and the Greek Church, and the participation in international tourism fairs. They also discussed current issues of common interest.
Later in the evening, the delegation had a two hour meeting collaboration with Ms. Tatiana Zotova, one of the owners of Russian Tour Operator LABIRINT, one of the largest Russian tourist offices, and her partners, Ms Marina Zatsepina and Mr. Platon Klimenok, which discussed prospects of religious tourism from Russia to Greece.
